About this decoder
The QuickBooks Online API returns numeric error codes that, in the spirit of XML-era enterprise software, are not great at explaining themselves. We hit most of them while building SideQuest. This page is what we wish we'd had: a code, a clear cause, the exact fix.
Each entry is the working knowledge we use in our connector. If you're seeing one of these in your own QuickBooks integration (not just SideQuest), the fixes apply equally — the underlying API behaviour is the same.
If SideQuest itself is throwing a QB error, you'll usually see one of these codes wrapped in a human-friendly message that links you back to the diagnose prompt. Paste the prompt into Claude Desktop and Claude walks the troubleshooting flow for you.
